Watch of the Month - Jaeger LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph
This limited edition Jaeger LeCoultre Duometre Chronograph is a spectacular and innovative watch that re-imagines the way one usually looks at a chronograph. In stunning 18k white gold the 42mm case has a substantial yet classy look on the wrist, aided by the black leather strap and the 18k white gold folding deployant buckle. The manual wind movement (caliber 380) is a 49 jewel work of mechanical art displayed proudly beneath the sapphire glass case back.
Why We Love It: The functions of the watch are split into two sub-dials right and left. On the left is the standard time function of the watch displaying the hours and minutes. On the right is the chronograph minute and hour counters. The chronograph is all operated from a single chronograph button at two o’clock. Overlapping center second hands are color coded to correspond to the two functions (white for main time and gold for the chronograph. Similarly the power reserve indicators are also color coded for the two functions (the watch employs a double barrel manual wind system, turning the crown in one directions powers the main time and turning it in the opposite direction winds the chronograph’s main spring). In the center of the dial is a jumping seconds dial also known as “flying seconds” or a foudroyante. This measures the stopped chronograph down to a sixth of a second!
