The Vintage 1945 is one of Girard-Perregaux’s main collections, which is home to Art Deco-inspired watches. Combining an appealing mix of straight and curved lines, these rectangular Girard-Perregaux timepieces arch around the wrist to offer both bold style and superb comfort.

The groundbreaking and whimsical Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Jackpot Tourbillon turned heads when it debuted at Baselworld 2006 as it was the first watch in the world to bring together a tourbillon and a slot machine. Similar to the “one-armed bandit” invented by German-born Charles Fey in 1895 in San Francisco, the slot machine of the Vintage 1945 Jackpot Tourbillon watch is operated by a pull lever on the right side of the case. Furthermore, after the three reels spin and stop at any of the five symbols (spades, hearts, diamonds, horseshoes, and bells, which mimics Fey’s original Liberty Bell slot machine), a minute repeater-type hammer strikes a gong to produce audible chimes! It’s truly a treat for the eyes and ears. There are 125 possible combinations — and a trio of bells is a jackpot.

Sitting on the opposite side of the delightful slot machine mechanism on the black dial is the tourbillon, complete with the signature Girard-Perregaux rose gold bridge. The tourbillon makes one full rotation every minute, and thus also houses the running seconds display. Wedged in between the slots and tourbillon are the hour and minute hands, accompanied by oversized Arabic numerals at 3 and 9 o’clock. As expected, the handset and hour markers are fashioned from 18k rose gold.

The 18k rose gold case of the Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 Jackpot Tourbillon measures 43 x 44mm and both sides feature scratch-resistant sapphire crystals. The rectangular window on the caseback offers a view of the intricate manual-winding mechanical movement that powers this complicated watch. The complex integrated movement was built with 502 parts, and most impressively, you can pull on the lever as many times as you want without affecting the four-day (96-hour) power reserve.

Finalizing the style of this high-flier timepiece is a classic black alligator leather strap, fitted with a rose gold deployant clasp to match the case material and dial details.
