One of the most famous designer jewelry collections is the B.zero1 from Bulgari. Launched in 1999, the B.zero1 jewelry line was in honor of one of Italy’s most iconic landmarks—the Colosseum. Bulgari is no stranger to taking inspiration from its home city. In fact, most of their creations pay homage to both ancient and modern Rome.
Instantly recognizable, B.zero1 quickly became a favorite of fashionistas and celebrities around the world. Over the years, Bulgari has launched so many different models of the B.zero1 including a few collaborations with prominent designers. The most recent of these collaborations is with the late architect, Zaha Hadid, which led to the new Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend. Let’s explore the new B.zero1 collection in detail.
The Icon Behind the Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend
Dame Zaha Hadid (1950 – 2016) was one of the most famous architects of her generation. Her work includes incredible buildings around the world such as Guangzhou Opera House, the London Aquatics Centre for the Summer Olympics, Vienna University Library, and so many others. During her illustrious career, Zaha Hadid picked up a slew of awards including the Pritzker Architecture Prize. In fact, Zaha Hadid was the first woman to receive that award. Furthermore, she also has two of UK’s most prestigious architecture prize, the Stirling Prize, to her name.
Zaha Hadid’s signature style gained her the nickname “The Queen of the Curve,” which she also extended to the new Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend jewelry. Unfortunately, the completed Bulgari jewelry collection was launched after Zaha Hadid had already passed away.
Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend Jewelry Collection
The Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend by Zaha Hadid emphasized the late architect’s penchant for curves. Rather than the characteristic solid core between the top and bottom ring that was typical of a B.zero1 piece, we now see swooping lines and unexpected curves. Those fluid lines often found on her buildings are precisely what made Zaha Hadid so famous and now, they can be enjoyed in miniature versions as pieces of fine jewelry.
The Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend jewelry collection includes four different pieces. First, there’s the thicker 4-band ring in 18k pink gold. There’s also a thinner 3-band ring offered in either 18k white or 18k pink gold. Finally, rounding out the new Bulgari jewelry collection, there’s also the Design Legend pendant in pink gold. But of course, given the design of the rings, they can also be worn as a pendant too. Each piece beautifully flaunts seductive waves that are elegant enough for everyday wear, yet unique enough to don during special occasions.
While the Zaha Hadid’s Bulgari B.zero1 Design Legend collection is new, it’s safe to say that it’s already a modern icon of the Italian house of magnificent jewels.
