The perfect companion for a day out on the water, OMEGA releases three new versions of their refined Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer collection for 2017. Read on to find out more about the trio of 2017 novelties from the Swiss luxury watchmaker.

OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Updates for 2017

OMEGA has updated their Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer collection for 2017 with three new stylish models. A popular and more smart casual option than some of OMEGA’s professional dive watches, the Aqua Terra line has always made for elegant daily wear. The updates for this year include a range of subtle design modifications that make for a cleaner looking timepiece.

Taking its design cues from the decks of luxury yachts, the updated Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer collection still maintains the teak patterned dial that defines this line of OMEGA watches. However, rather than the vertical of the past, the revamped series now exhibits horizontal lines. This detail gives the timepieces a more subtle and elegant look.

Three New Models of the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra

Available in two sizes, the 41mm models come in stainless steel or in a steel and 18k Sedna gold case. Both of these versions feature a silver-toned dial and black outlined luminous hands and hour markers. The stainless steel 41mm version contains orange highlights throughout its design, from an orange seconds hand to orange numerals on the peripheral minute track to the orange “Seamaster” inscription. This pop of color complements its luscious brown leather strap.

On the other hand, the steel and gold iteration holds a similar dial, however, the orange highlights are absent and replaced with the same black used to color the indexes. This version is fitted with a rubber strap that has been fashioned to resemble a stitched and weaved fabric.

The third version of the Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer has a 38mm stainless steel case and a blue dial.  What’s more, the more compact Aqua Terra comes with a matching steel bracelet. With rhodium plated luminous hands and hour markers, these elements complement the watch’s bracelet — which offers a better fit to wearers with slighter wrists — while standing out against the rich blue watch face.

Adding another element of surprise to this collection, OMEGA moved the date window from 3 to 6 o’clock. Though this may disturb some watch aficionados, we have to agree that it does make for a more symmetrical design. Plus, we cannot fault the Swiss Manufacture for paying tribute to the first OMEGA watch with a date window — the 1952 Automatic Seamaster Calendar. Furthering this desire to make the new Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer collection look cleaner, the water resistance information is no longer on the watch face. Only the words “Co-Axial Master Chronometer” now adorn the dial above the 6 o’clock aperture. In keeping with the classic style of the timepiece, a conical crown at 3 o’clock completes this OMEGA’s look.

Rather than the dial, the water resistance details — “150m/500ft” — have moved. They now sit on the ring that secures the Aqua Terra’s sapphire crystal caseback. And through this porthole, wearers can admire either the OMEGA Master Chronometer mechanical movements. The 41mm models house the OMEGA Caliber 8900 while the 38mm model runs on the OMEGA Caliber 8800. Certified as Master Chronometers by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS), these movements remain unaffected by exposure to strong magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss guaranteeing accuracy and reliability.

Pre-Owned OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra Models

Excellent options for daily wear, OMEGA’s Seamaster Aqua Terra Master Chronometer watches offer style and substance. Moreover, there’s also their full 4-year warranty. Moderately priced, the 41mm steel and 18k Sedna gold model is approximately $7,450, while the 41mm stainless steel version goes for $5,030. For those interested in the smaller 38mm model, it’s available for about $5,150. Fans of the brand who also enjoy a bit of seafaring would do well to get their hands on one of these sophisticated takes on a modern dive watch.
