A while back, we did a roundup of our five favorite Cartier watches for men. This time around, we thought we’d give Breitling the same treatment. Breitling is well-known for sporty and technical timepieces–mostly geared towards aviation. However, the Swiss watch brand does produce some great diving and motor-inspired watches too. So, with that let’s highlight five of our current favorite Breitling watches for men.

Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II 46

In 1957, Breitling created the first SuperOcean for professional and military divers. However, given its style and functionality, its appeal quickly spread to a wider audience. The Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II 46 is a modern interpretation of that vintage Breitling diver’s watch.

Equipped with a large 46mm stainless steel case, the SuperOcean Heritage II sports an ultra-modern ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel and the in-house Breitling B20 automatic movement. On the dial are the characteristic arrow and sword-like hands as well as a date window at 6 o’clock. While there are other colors available, this particular model flaunts an eye-catching bronze and steel color scheme, complete with a brown leather strap.

Breitling Avenger II

With stencil-type numerals on the bezel and dial, the Avenger II chronograph is typical of Breitling’s bold style. The 43mm stainless steel case with screw-down chronograph pusher houses a sleek black dial, which sets the background for the trio of contrasting subdials at 6/9/12 o’clock and date window at 3 o’clock.

Flip the watch around and you’ll spot a practical conversion scale for Anglo-Saxon and metric measurements engraved into the titanium caseback. Sitting under that caseback is the automatic Breitling 013 Valjoux-based movement. Finished with a classic black leather strap with white stitching, this Breitling Avenger II is a great everyday luxury sports watch.

Breitling Cockpit B50

Filled to the brim with functionality and featuring both analog and digital displays, the Breitling Cockpit B50 runs on the exclusive Breitling Caliber B50 SuperQuartz caliber. Wearers can take advantage of the chronograph with split time and flyback. Or, there’s also the chrono flight mechanism to record flight times. Plus, there’s even an electronic tachymeter and a countdown/count-up system.

This Breitling Cockpit B50 includes a large 48mm case, yet it’s light thanks to its titanium construction. Fitted with a sporty black rubber strap embossed with the Breitling logo and a matching titanium deployant buckle, the Cockpit B50 is a robust Breitling instrument that is both impressive in style and functionality.

Breitling Chronomat 44

The top-selling Breiling watch in the brand’s lineup, the Chronomat made its debut in the early 1980s as a tribute to a chronograph made for the Italian Air Force’s aerobatics squadron. Since then, Breitling has produced a host of different versions of this popular men’s chronograph watch, while staying true to its recognizable design.

Part of the current Breitling catalog, the Chronomat 44 has a polished 44mm steel case along with a polished steel link bracelet. The carbon dial includes square registers to be used in conjunction with the chronograph pushers on the case, as well as a discreet date display tucked in between four and five o’clock. The unidirectional 60-unit engraved bezel has the familiar rider tabs at the four poles as well as a lume plot at 12 o’clock. Powered by the in-house Breitling 01 automatic movement, the Breitling Chronomat 44 has a power reserve of 70 hours.

Breitling Navitimer Montbrillant 47

While the Chronomat is Breitling’s top-seller, the Navitimer is the brand’s most iconic model. Launched in 1952, the Breitling Navitimer proudly keeps it vintage aviation-inspired vibe today. But of course, today’s versions of the Navitimer are built to modern standards.

Although there are so many Navi watches to choose from, we currently love this Breitling Navitimer Montbrillant 47. Limited to just 2000 pieces, this stainless steel Navitimer Montbrillant has a very large 47mm case and an expansive dial. On that black dial, we see the famed Navitimer layout with the customary slide rule and three subdials. There’s also a red chronograph hand and a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock. Completing the design of this Navitimer is the familiar knurled bezel and supple steel link Navitimer bracelet.

It’s clear that the options among Breitling watches for men is wide and diverse. From modern pilot watches to dive watches to vintage-inspired aviation timepieces, Breitling has plenty to choose from.
