Classic Rolex design - the most popular model of luxury watches for ladies.

Rolex was founded in 1905 in London by Hans Wilsdorf who wanted to make time-pieces elegant and reliable. Soon it relocated to Switzerland.

Rolex is the definition of a luxury swiss-made watch. He created the world’s first waterproof “Oyster” watch. It consists of a fluted bezel, caseback and screw-down crown.

The ladies Rolex Datejust come in a variety of metals such as:

  • Stainless steel
  • two-tone
  • 18k yellow gold
  • 18k white gold
  • 18k rose gold
  • Platinum

The Rolex Datejust was released 75 years ago, but added the classic ladies Datejust 26mm in 1957. This model was soon replaced in 2015 by the 28mm.

French Vintage Rolex Datejust Ref. 6917F - never serviced

Iggy from Sweden came into our boutique with a watch that was over 40 years old. It was her mother’s ladies 18k and stainless steel Rolex with all the hallmarks from France, although she assured she bought it in Sweden.

The watch was in excellent condition but rather dirty and not running. When we asked her, she said that she had not worn it in a long time. It needed some loving care, re-lubrication and overhaul because she just had not taken care of it in a long, long time. In her mind, she had not even overhauled it once in 30 or 40 years.

As part of a Gray and Sons repair, our watchmakers completely disassembled the watch and inspected all the worn parts in an 86-step process. They put it through cleaning machines in order to remove any old caked up and dried up oils. Then, they re-lubricated the watch, reassembling it part by part, screw by screw. Finally, it was polished to make it shine like brand new.
