Gray and Sons Aquanaut Restoration
This spotless looking watch arrived at Gray & Sons to be serviced. Eric searched on google for “patek philippe aquanaut repair” and found that Gray and Sons was on the first page and read through several of our repair blogs. He noticed we were close to his job and decided to come by our boutique located at 9595 Harding Ave Surfside, FL, 33154.
He told us how he had spent a beautiful weekend at the Keys with his family and noticed his watch’s crystal had condensation inside when he had returned back home. He remembered he was adjusting the date on the watch because he had not worn it in a while. Apparently, he forgot to screw down his crown after doing so.
Our watch specialist who was taking care of him immediately knew water had entered the watch. It needed an emergency overhaul and detail. One of our master watchmakers proceeded to decase the watch and disassemble the movement to its bare components.
He hand-removed the rust on the affected parts with fiberglass and metal brushes. He then put the parts into baskets, which hold the parts inside our ultrasonic watch cleaning machine. These parts go through three different cleaning solutions in order to get the oils and other built up debris removed off of them.
The parts are then inspected to verify which ones need to be replaced or adjusted. The movement is reassembled piece by piece and reoiled. Our watchmaker checks the movement amplitude with a special computer and it is adjusted until it reaches its Patek Philippe standards.
Disassembled and clean parts
Our expert watchmaker also makes sure that the watch’s gaskets are correctly in place in order to make the watch waterproof as it originally should be. Once the timepiece was completely assembled it went on to the testing phase. Our testing phase consists of 10 days where the watch is constantly checked and adjusted until it runs up to its original factory specifications.

Along with the repair the customer had also requested we placed a new original Tropical rubber and so we did. We had one in stock as part of our inventory so we did not have to wait for the strap to be delivered. That is one of the perks of repairing your watch at Gray and Sons. We hold over one million dollars in original parts and accessories for your swiss watches.
Eric could not believe what we were able to do for him and as a thank you, shared his experience with his friends. The watch repair included a 12-month warranty in which he can always bring the watch back to us to adjust for him. As of now he will continue to enjoy his beautiful Patek Philippe and will always remember to screw down his crown.
